The capacity of the liver to detoxify is paramount to the success of this treatment. When the release of toxins into the blood stream is stimulated, the liver must be able to take these up and detoxify them for elimination. A detoxification therapy, without facilitating the removal of toxins by the liver will accelerate the disease process, because the toxicity will not be removed and the liver will become more damaged. It is vital to keep the metabolism free of poison and to help the body to eliminate the poisonous substances, not least those from the tumour masses themselves.  When a program such as this is undertaken without the use of coffee enemas, which facilitate the release of toxins by the liver, the patient may become extremely toxic which will further weaken the liver and accelerate the disease process. The use of coffee in enemas for detoxification purposes has been in practice for many years. There is no better stimulant for bile production and its subsequent flushing out than coffee. This is due to a number of pharmacologically acting substances in the coffee. The combination of theobromine, theophylline and caffeine stimulates the relaxation of smooth muscles causing dilatation of blood vessels and bile ducts. Hence bile flow is increased. Also increased are the number of conjugated toxins in the bile. This is due to the activity of other substances in the coffee, the palmitates, which activate the enzyme system, glutathione-S-transferase, seven-fold. This enzyme system, which is selenium-dependent, is responsible for grabbing toxins, free-radicals and bilirubin (breakdown product of red blood cells) and conjugating them (or detoxifying them and making them water soluble)  before delivery to the bile for elimination. The mopping up of free-radicals effectively inhibits the formation of carcinogens and therefore this enzyme performs a protective role against cancer.
The coffee enema is unsurpassed in its capacity to stimulate the flushing of toxic bile or bile that has been loaded with toxins by the glutathione S transferase system and it has literally been a life-saver to many hundreds of people undergoing extreme detoxification. On a dietary healing program, with its particular prescription of diet and supplementation, huge amounts of sodium, water and toxins are discharged from the cells, which if not eliminated through the bile, result in toxic poisoning of the system with serious consequences. The frequency and number of enemas applied obviously depend upon the degree of toxic burden and the rate of its release into the system. The use of enemas on a detoxification program enables patients to progress at a faster rate than they would normally have been able to, as extremely toxic symptoms can be experienced on a comparatively mild cleanse, and without the use of enemas people are often tempted to give up the treatment.
The effects of taking a coffee enema are not the same as drinking coffee. The coffee is   absorbed into the mesenteric vein, then taken up by the portal vein which serves the liver directly. The enema does not pass into the systemic circulation. The enema is retained for 15 minutes during which time it stimulates the liver cells to cleanse the blood, removing toxins. The entire blood circulation will be recycled through the liver about five times during this period enabling a thorough cleanse. With the bile ducts dilated a flushing of toxic bile is encouraged which enters the gastro-intestinal tract. The large volume of fluid retained in the lower colon stimulates peristaltic activity which ensures the propulsion of bile through the intestine to the outside. It is important to remember that the enema is given for the stimulation of the liver and not for the function of the intestines.

Preparation of the coffee enema.

Coffee enemas are very easy to prepare. I would recommend that if you are considering using them that you only do so if your case is being managed by a professional. It is important that the diet includes vegetable juices while using coffee enemas. You will need to buy an enema bag available at most pharmacies that stock surgical supplies. You may have a choice of the disposable kind (although they do last for several months and are inexpensive), or the more robust type – the Douche Can Kit. You will need a hook on the bathroom door (or use a bent coat hanger so that you can hang the enema bucket a little lower – say over the towel rail) where you can hang your filled bucket, and the coffee can then drain down through the tube and into the rectum.
Best enema kit from local pharmacy - SurgiPack Douche Can Kit and size 16 nelaton catheter (Indoplas). The catheter is placed on the end of the small nozzle and makes insertion easier.
The coffee enema is prepared by putting 3 tablespoons of organic ground coffee (1/4 cup) into one litre of distilled water which has just been brought to the boil. Continue on the boil for 3 minutes and then simmer on very low heat for 20 mins. Cool, strain and make up the quantity with distilled water to 1.0 litre. Pour the enema, luke warm or body temperature, into the bag and hang on the door (make sure the nozzle end is shut off). Lie on your right side and place the nozzle into the rectum releasing the flow. It is easier to inject if you use the soft Nelaton catheter which can be placed on the short rectal nozzle. The catheter will easily insert to about 10cm which makes sure that the coffee is delivered straight into the colon, bypassing the lower segment and the haemorrhoidal vein (the haemorrhoidal vein will deliver the coffee into the systemic circulation, not directly to the liver).  Inject and retain for 15 mins remaining lying on your right side with knees slightly bent towards chest. The bowels will continue to operate independently even when taking the enemas and start functioning on their own after they are discontinued. There are some contra-indications to the enemas (bleeding and/or ulceration in the colon; hypertension; tachycardia; cardiac, respiratory or renal insufficiency: diarrhoea) so you may need to check with your practitioner before embarking on this treatment.  The free PDF file (reference and resource guide) will give you additional information, enema recipes, tips and details on the castor oil treatment.
